School Services and IEEs

Supporting your child's success in the classroom, every step of the way.

Navigating school services can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not sure your child is getting everything they need. Whole Child Therapy works directly with schools to provide occupational therapy and speech and language therapy, and conducts Independent Educational Evaluations for families who want a second opinion.

ALREADY AT YOUR SCHOOL

Therapy through your child's school

If your child receives occupational therapy or speech and language therapy through their school district, charter school, or non-public school, Whole Child Therapy may already be providing those services. As an approved non-public agency (NPA), we are contracted with a variety of educational settings throughout the region, and our school-based therapists deliver services directly at those schools.

If you have questions about whether Whole Child Therapy provides services at your child’s school, feel free to reach out and we can let you know.

ANOTHER PATH TO ACCESS

Individual Service Agreements (ISAs)

If your child’s school is not currently contracted with Whole Child Therapy, your family may still be able to access our services through an Individual Service Agreement (ISA) with your school district. An ISA allows your child to receive therapy services from us directly, funded through the district.

If you think an ISA might be an option for your child, we recommend starting a conversation with your child’s IEP team. We are also happy to answer any questions you have — just reach out.

AN OUTSIDE PERSPECTIVE

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)

If you are looking for a second opinion on the related services your child receives at school, an IEE provides an objective, thorough assessment conducted by an evaluator who is independent from your school district. Our experienced assessors conduct IEEs in the following areas:

Following the evaluation, our assessor will present their findings and recommendations at your child’s IEP meeting. Our goal is to give you and your child’s team a clear, complete picture of your child’s needs so the right supports can be put in place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I find out if Whole Child Therapy provides services at my child's school?

Reach out to us directly and we can let you know whether we are currently contracted with your child’s school and help you figure out the best next step.

School-based therapy focuses on helping your child access and participate in their educational environment. Clinic-based therapy can address a broader range of goals that go beyond the school setting. Some families benefit from both. We are happy to talk through what makes sense for your child.

You have the right to request an IEE in writing from your school district if you disagree with their evaluation. The district will then either fund an independent evaluation or explain in writing why they believe their evaluation was appropriate. Once an IEE is approved, you can request Whole Child Therapy as your evaluator. If you have questions about the process, we are happy to walk you through it.

The timeline varies depending on the area of evaluation and scheduling. We work to complete evaluations in a timely manner and will communicate clearly with your family and the school team throughout the process.
